Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has sought Indian cooperation in order to take steps for mounting strong pressure on Myanmar to resolve the Rohingya crisis.
He made the request while addressing the concluding session of India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue at a hotel in Cox's Bazar on Saturday, reports BSS.
He said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set a unique example in terms of humanity before the world by giving shelters to the forcefully displaced Rohingyas in Bangladesh."
"However, we need strong support on the Rohingya issue from India to ensure that Myanmar takes them back in a dignified manner from our country,” he added.
On Friday, the ninth round of the India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue started. It aimed to go for huge investment to further strong relations between the two countries, and create employment opportunities.
The minister attended the concluding ceremony as a chief guest while the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Muhammad Faruk Khan chaired it.
Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha (India), M J Akbar, Bangladeshi lawmakers Nahim Razzaq, and Asheq Ullah Rafiq also attended the event.
