UAE interested to invest more in Bangladesh

The UAE minister asked for cooperation in getting new lands for constructing an exclusive economic zone for the UAE companies

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has shown interest for further investment in Bangladesh considering the economic opportunities in the country. 

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam discussed the issue with his counterpart from UAE Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash in the margins of ongoing 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York on Friday.

The UAE minister asked for cooperation in getting new lands for constructing an exclusive economic zone for the UAE companies, the foreign minister said on Saturday, reports UNB.

Shahriar Alam appreciated the interest from UAE and said he would facilitate the proposal. Meanwhile, the UAE minister said he looks forward to further increase in trade between the two countries in the days ahead.

Bangladesh state minister mentioned the newly formed Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) would be able to provide the UAE businesses with the facilities they would need to expand their investments and businesses in Bangladesh.

He expressed gratitude to the UAE government for hosting a large number of expatriate Bangladeshi workers and requested the minister to open up job market for professional categories including doctors, engineers, architects and technical persons in the construction sector as well.

The state minister for foreign affairs is attending the 73rd session of the UNGA in New York as a member of the official delegation headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
