Shringla likely to be India’s next ambassador to US

Shringla is likely to be replaced by Riva Ganguly Das, current director general of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh, is expected to be India's next ambassador to the United States.

He would replace Navtej Sarna, who is slated to retire at the end of this year, reports UNB.

Shringla will likely be replaced by Riva Ganguly Das, current director general of the Ministry of External Affairs' cultural arm, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, reports the Times of India.

Shringla's shift is a part of a series of changes the Indian government is planning as it sends envoys to a number of important world capitals, the Times of India said.

However, when contacted, a diplomatic source in Dhaka said nothing has been finalized. "It will take time," the source said.

Shringla was appointed Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka in November, 2015.
