Australian Prime Minister Malcom Turnbull has assured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of continuing support to Bangladesh in order to resolve the Rohingya crisis.
Speaking during a bilateral meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart, The Australian premier said his country would continue to put pressure on Myanmar to take back the Rohingyas to their homeland.
The meeting was held at Turnbull's residence in Sydney on Saturday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Hasina apprised Turnbull of the steps her government had taken to give temporary shelter to the Rohingyas in Bangladesh, as well as her government's future plans in this regard.
Both leaders discussed bilateral trade and investment and agreed to find out a viable means to boost the bilateral cooperation.
Sheikh Hasina invited the Australian prime minister to visit Bangladesh, which he accepted, Ihsanul Karim said.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali was present at the meeting as well.
