China to take ‘strategic partnership’ with Bangladesh to new heights

China on Monday said they are willing to work together with Bangladesh to deepen the cooperation between the two countries and push the “strategic partnership” to new heights. "I attach high importance to the development of China-Bangladesh relations," Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a message to Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid, marking the Independence Day of the latter country. He added that he will work together with Bangladesh to strengthen the alignment of development strategies of the two countries, jointly carry out the Belt and Road initiative, and continuously inject new vigour into the “strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Bangladesh.” The Chinese president further said that the relationship between the two countries was gaining momentum in recent years, with increasing cooperation in various fields serving the mutual interests of both nations. Xi Jinping also conveyed his best wishes to the president and people of Bangladesh on the 48th anniversary of its independence on behalf of China. "May Bangladesh enjoy prosperity and its people enjoy happiness," said President Jinping. In a separate message to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang also said ties between the two countries were growing stronger. Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, in a message to Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, said China attaches great importance to its bilateral relationship with Bangladesh. "I am willing to work together with you to make constant efforts on the development of the strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Bangladesh," Wang Yi said.
