Sheikh Hasina received Abbas with a bouquet as the latter reached her office at 3:22pm, reports UNB.
A bilateral meeting was held between representatives of the two countries following a tête-à-tête between Hasina and Abbas.
A MoU (memorandum of understanding) was signed to form a 'joint committee' at foreign minister-level between the two countries. Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali and his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki signed the MoU in presence of Sheikh Hasina and Mahmoud Abbas at around 4:25pm.
Abbas arrived in Dhaka on a three-day state visit on Wednesday evening, when President Abdul Hamid welcomed him amid a 21-gun salute at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

PIDBefore meeting the prime minister, Abbas paid his tribute to the martyrs of Liberation War by placing a wreath at the National Mausoleum in Savar, where he also signed the visitors’ book and planted a sapling.
Abbas also visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 at around 3pm and paid his respects to the father of the nation.

PIDThis is Mahmoud's first official visit to Bangladesh. He had been at the Dhaka airport twice before in stopovers, once in February last year while he was flying to Jordan from Japan. The other time was back in February, 2010, when Abbas had met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Dhaka airport while he was on an hour-long stopover en route to his country.
