Update : 27 Aug 2017, 10:08 PM
Canada is set to provide Bangladesh CAN$262,500 through the Canadian Humanitarian Assistance Fund, to support Plan International in providing immediate assistance to over 10,000 people affected by torrential rain induced floods in Bangladesh over the past few months. The support will focus on the delivery of an essential package of interventions for vulnerable flood affected households over a period of four months, according to a press release. Previously, Canada had provided Bangladesh CAN$45,000 through the Emergency Disaster Assistance Fund for the assistance of those affected by Cyclone Mora. The funds helped provide immediate assistance to those affected by the cyclone for two months. The assistance for victims of Cyclone Mora centred on the provision of emergency food, shelter toolkits, safe drinking water and basic non-food items, as well as sanitation and hygiene assistance.
