Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma will arrive in Dhaka on Friday evening on a three-day visit.
During his visit, he will discuss with the government the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to be held in Malta in November this year and the fourteenth Meeting of Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers (CFAMM) due in New York on September 24.
According to foreign ministry sources, Sharma is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and invite her to attend the CHOGM. He will also meet Foreign Minister A H Mahmood Ali on Saturday morning.
Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali will leave for New York on September 23 to attend the CFAMM and the 70th session of the United Nations General assembly (UNGA), the sources added. The Commonwealth Foreign Ministers will meet in New York as part of their fourteenth meeting to discuss a range of Commonwealth priorities.
The Foreign Minister will host dinner in honour of the Commonwealth Secretary General on Saturday.
