Update : 28 May 2015, 03:45 PM

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would accompany Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-day Bangladesh visit starting from June 6.

According to PTI, Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister of India Partha Chatterjee said: "The West Bengal chief minister will go along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh next month.

“We hope this visit will strengthen relations between the two Bengals (West Bengal and Bangladesh) and also between the two countries."

"We feel that the visit by the Prime Minister and chief minister will be in the interest of both the countries and also Bengal," he added

"The Prime Minister and chief minister will go together and I believe that Bengal's interests will not be compromised," the minister said, adding the people of both countries want good relations.

This will be Modi's first Dhaka visit after he became the prime minister of India while it is Mamata's second this year.

Earlier in February, Mamata along with a delegation of state government officials and cultural personalities had visited Bangladesh for three days.
