The Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) marked its 12th year with a heartwarming reunion gala on Saturday in Dhanmondi.
The evening brought together organizers, alumni, and supporters to celebrate the spirit of mobile filmmaking, reconnect with old friends, and reflect on the festival’s inspiring journey.
The event began at 5:30pm with a warm reception, and official proceedings commenced at 6:30pm.
By 7pm, the program was formally inaugurated, featuring opening remarks and a heartfelt reflection on DIMFF’s evolution, its impact on emerging filmmakers, and its vision for the future.
Prof Sumon Rahman, chief adviser shared: "It is a celebration—not just of films, but of the friendships and journeys we've shared. Seeing familiar faces and reliving cherished memories reminds us why this community matters."
Adviser Syeda Sadia Mehjabin expressed gratitude, saying: "I want to thank the entire team—from the 2015 DIMFF pioneers to everyone who has carried the vision forward. But we will never forget our roots—those who laid the foundation. Without them, we are incomplete."
DIMFF21 Festival Director Rafi Ahmed said: "The reunion of the Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival is more than a gathering—it's a celebration of creativity and community. It should be held every two or three years to keep the spirit alive and evolving with each new generation of storytellers."
Former DIMFF members enjoyed a relaxed and nostalgic atmosphere, sharing stories and reflections from past editions of the festival.
At 9pm, the evening took a lively turn with interactive games such as confessions, dumb charades, and the ever-entertaining roast & toast session, sparking laughter and strengthening community bonds.
The reunion concluded at 11pm, leaving participants inspired and reenergized.
The event reaffirmed DIMFF’s commitment to nurturing a vibrant platform for storytelling through mobile filmmaking and underscored the creative spirit that continues to drive the festival forward.
