The Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) organized a stakeholder workshop titled “BTRI’s Role in Biomedical Research for Improving the Quality of Health Services-2025” at the IFST Auditorium, BCSIR on Monday.
Dr Samina Ahmed, chairman of BCSIR, attended the event as the chief guest.
Special guests included Kazi Anwar Hossain, member (development); Roknuzzaman, member (finance); Dr Mosa Hosne Ara Begum, member (science and technology); and Council Secretary Mohammad Shahidul Haque Patwary.
In her address, Dr Ahmed emphasized BCSIR’s commitment to the welfare of the people, saying: “BCSIR is working for the welfare of the countrymen. Those of you who are wealthy in society or involved in business and research can open new business horizons with the methods invented by BTRI or BCSIR.”
The workshop was presided over by Dr Md Abdus Sattar, Acting Director and Chief Scientific Officer of BTRI. He highlighted the laboratory's role, saying: “BTRI is the newest research laboratory of BCSIR. All the scientists here are relentlessly conducting research to make this research center state-of-the-art.”
Dr SM Abdur Rahman, former chairman of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology at the Dhaka University, called on the authorities to ensure BCSIR's services reach remote areas of the country.
The workshop, supported by Md Abdur Rahim, senior scientific officer of BTRI, was attended by more than 60 participants, including representatives from industrial organizations such as Square, Incepta, Acme, and Nestle, as well as researchers and academics from various universities.
