A memorial program titled "Apu Ke Niye" was held at the Mozaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium at Dhaka University to honour the legacy of Masud Al Mahadi Apu, a distinguished journalism student and student activist.
Apu known for his outspoken stance against repression on campus. He was celebrated for his contributions to student activism and exceptional academic performance.
The event featured speeches from notable figures, including Sabrina Sultana Chowdhury, Mass Communication and Journalism associate professor, and Umama Fatema, student movement coordinator.
Salman Siddique, president of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, also addressed the audience alongside Apu's family and peers.
Apu’s dream of becoming a filmmaker was highlighted, along with the challenges he faced due to his activism, which allegedly led to academic deprivation. His tragic suicide in 2021 underscored the pressures faced by outspoken students.
The program included a screening of Apu's short film "Goti Khondito" and the release of a souvenir compiling writings and memories of him, accompanied by a photo album celebrating his life.
