The Community Clinic Health Support Trust launched a guideline on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) for community clinics in Bangladesh on Thursday.
The event was hosted by the Community Clinic Health Support Trust with support from the World Health Organization (WHO), Unicef, World Bank and WaterAid Bangladesh.
Community Clinic is a brain child of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to extend primary health care services to the doorsteps of people throughout the country, especially in rural areas.
At present, there are more than 13,000 community clinics in the country and these services are expanding gradually.
The WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) guideline marked the initiation of changing the WASH facilities in community clinics as a standard for community level health service providers to improve quality health services.
Dr Md Younus Ali Pramanik, managing director of Community Clinic Health Support Trust, stated this was one big step forward to facilitate community clinics to improve their existing WASH services.
