Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser of the interim government, has congratulated and thanked Dr Shafiqur Rahman, ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, for achieving a dignified result in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
In a message on Sunday the chief adviser said to the Jamaat ameer: “I sincerely thank you for the active and extensive participation of your party candidates under your leadership, the strong competition, and subsequently accepting the election results peacefully and with dignity in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.”
He added: “From the election campaign period to the post-result phase, your political decorum, restraint, responsible statements, and calls for peaceful behavior among your workers have played a special role in maintaining overall stability in the country.”
The chief adviser also expressed gratitude, saying: “I especially thank your party for the constructive support, advice, and cooperation provided during the tenure of the interim government.”
He added that Bangladesh is at a crucial juncture, facing challenges like the global economy, technology, climate change, human development, and social justice, and stressed that both government and opposition must act responsibly to strengthen democracy.
He hoped that under Dr Rahman, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will be a constructive opposition, promoting principled debate, public accountability, and a positive political culture.
The chief adviser added: “I firmly believe that the role you have played in strengthening national unity in the past will continue in the days ahead. National unity is our strength.”
He concluded by praying to Almighty Allah for Dr Rahman’s personal health, longevity, and overall well-being.
