BNP sweeps all three Gopalganj seats

Selimuzzaman, Dr KM Babar, and SM Zilani unofficially elected as BNP claims victory across Gopalganj constituencies

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has won all three parliamentary seats in Gopalganj district in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The unofficial results were announced at 2:30am on Friday. Vote counting was completed by the Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Md Arif-uz-Zaman.

In Gopalganj-1 (Muksudpur and part of Kashiani), BNP-nominated candidate Selimuzzaman Molla was unofficially elected with 68,867 votes, contesting with the sheaf of paddy symbol. His nearest rival, Md Kabir Mia of Gono Odhikar Parishad, secured 53,961 votes with the truck symbol.

In Gopalganj-2 (Gopalganj Sadar and part of Kashiani), BNP-nominated candidate Dr KM Babor was unofficially elected with 40,048 votes, also with the sheaf of paddy symbol. His closest rival, BNP rebel (independent) candidate MH Khan Monju, received 33,039 votes with the deer symbol.

In Gopalganj-3 (Tungipara and Kotalipara), BNP-nominated candidate SM Zilani was unofficially elected with 60,166 votes with the sheaf of paddy symbol. His nearest rival, independent candidate Govinda Chandra Pramanik, general secretary of the central committee of Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajote, secured 33,867 votes with the horse symbol.
