The Election Commission (EC) has introduced four methods for voters to obtain their voter number and polling station information ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum scheduled for February 12.
The information was disclosed in a press release on Saturday by Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, director of the EC’s Public Relations Division. The commission said the methods will allow voters to “quickly” and “accurately” access their voting details.
Under the first method, voters can use the Smart Election Management BD app. After downloading and installing the app from the Play Store or App Store, voters must select “13th National Parliamentary Election” from the dashboard and click on the “Find Polling Station” option. By entering their NID number and date of birth, voters will be able to view their voter number, voter serial number, polling station name, and polling station address.
The second method allows voters to call the hotline number 105 from anywhere in Bangladesh. After dialing 105, callers must press 9 to speak to an operator. Voters will need their NID number and date of birth to receive the information. The service will remain available daily from 6:00 am to 12:00 midnight.
Under the third method, voters can obtain the information via SMS. They must go to the message option on their mobile phone, type PC NID, and send it to 105. Voter number and polling station details will be sent in a return SMS.
The fourth method involves using the Election Commission website. Voters can visit ecs.gov.bd through any browser on a laptop, desktop computer, or mobile phone. By clicking on the “Polling Station” menu, they can search for polling stations in two ways—either by selecting the electoral area, upazila, or thana to view a list of centers, or by entering their NID number and date of birth to obtain voter number and polling station information.
The website also allows users to view polling station locations directly on Google Maps, providing details on distance and directions.
The 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum will be held on February 12, with voting scheduled from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
According to the EC, the total number of voters in the country stands at 127,695,183. Of them, 64,814,907 are male voters, 62,879,042 are female voters, and 1,234 are third-gender voters.
Meanwhile, the EC has published the final list of 42,761 polling stations nationwide for the upcoming election. Of these, 115,137 rooms have been designated for men and 129,602 rooms for women, bringing the total number of rooms to 244,649. The commission said the number of secret booths will be increased as the referendum and the parliamentary election will be held on the same day.
