Jamaat ameer alleges political party exploiting his X account hack

Dr Shafiqur Rahman also said Jamaat-e-Islami does not seek power for partisan or family-based politics

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Tuesday alleged that a political party is “doing business” with the hacking of his X (formerly Twitter) account.

He made the remarks while addressing an election rally at Katiadi Government College ground in Kishoreganj as the chief guest.

“My X account was hacked and an extremely offensive message was posted from it. Our cyber team recovered the account quickly and identified who was behind it. Despite everything becoming clear, a political party is now exploiting the incident,” he said.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman also said Jamaat-e-Islami does not seek power for partisan or family-based politics. “We do not want the victory of Jamaat-e-Islami alone; we want the victory of 180 million people. If the people win, that victory belongs to everyone,” he said.

Criticising what he described as traditional power politics, he added: “Those who want to walk the old paths can choose the dark alleys. We will walk the illuminated main road.”

Referring to women’s dignity, the Jamaat ameer said people cannot tolerate insults directed at women. “We are grateful to our mothers and sisters. No one can repay a mother’s debt, but we must try with gratitude,” he said, recalling incidents of violence during the July Movement.

The rally drew a large turnout of Jamaat leaders and activists from across the district.

The program was presided over by Professor Ramzan Ali, ameer of the Jamaat-e-Islami Kishoreganj district unit. Leaders of parties allied with the 11-party alliance addressed the gathering, introduced candidates from six constituencies in the district and sought votes on their behalf.
