'The responsibility for organizing the election lies entirely with Election Commission, leaving no scope for government interference,' he says

Adviser to the ministries of Shipping and Labor and Employment Brig Gen (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain said the objective of the interim government is now clear — to hold the national election.

He said the responsibility for organizing the election lied entirely with the Election Commission, leaving no scope for government interference. The interim government will only provide necessary assistance, he said on Monday after inaugurating the three-story terminal building at the BIWTA river port in Charfesson upazila of Bhola on Monday

“Once upon a time, ilish were abundant in the Padma River, but now they have moved downstream through Chandpur to Bhola. Currently, most ilish are found in Bhola. If we can advance this process in a balanced way, thousands of fishermen will be able to earn a better livelihood. Our main goal is to work for the welfare of marginalized people — and that’s exactly what we are doing,” the adviser said.

Among others present were Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa, Charfesson Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rasna Sarmin Mithi, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Emadul Hosen, and Assistant Superintendent of Police (Charfashion Circle) Mehadi Hasan.

Officials of the upazila administration, members of the Bangladesh Navy and police, and local dignitaries were also present at the event.
