Prominent actor Ilias Kanchan has proposed three key reforms, including introducing a no-vote option for voters to reject all candidates if none are deemed suitable.
He made these suggestions during a meeting with the Election System Reform Commission and Nagorik Samaj at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday.
Ilias Kanchan also mentioned that if someone faces injustice during elections, they may file a case, but by the time the case is resolved, the term may end, leaving the complainant without justice.
He suggested that the Election Commission establish a fast-track court system within the commission to address such cases promptly and ensure the complainant's rights are upheld.
Another proposal he made was about the misuse of funds during the previous government's time, specifically concerning the purchase of electronic voting machines (EVMs), which he said led to a lack of trust in the commission.
He emphasized the need for transparency in the Election Commission to regain public confidence, or else people might think the system remains as it was before.
