Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to go on a two-day state visit to Gopalganj on Saturday, marking her first visit as the head of government after securing her fifth consecutive term.
During this visit, she will engage greeting with leaders and activists in her own constituency, Tungipara, and Kotalipara upazila.
Anticipation is high among leaders and activists, and strong security measures have been implemented throughout the district.
The prime minister will travel from Dhaka to Tungipara by road on the first day of her visit. Upon arrival, she will pay her respects at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Subsequently, she will pay her respects alongside the newly formed Council of Ministers, with family members in attendance.
In the afternoon, the prime minister will exchange greetings with local leaders and activists at the Tungipara upazila Awami League office.
District Awami League sources revealed that leaders and public representatives from the upazila and affiliated organizations will be present at the exchange meeting.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will spend the night at her residence in Tungipara.
On Sunday afternoon, she will exchange greetings with leaders and activists of Awami League at Kotalipara Upazila Parishad premises.
Leaders and public representatives of Kotalipara upazila Awami League and affiliated organizations are expected to participate in the exchange ceremony.
Following the greeting exchange, she will return to Dhaka by road later that day.
The visit is significant as Bangabandhu's daughter, Sheikh Hasina, reconnects with her constituency leaders and activists after securing her fifth term as prime minister.
The leaders and activists of her constituency are eagerly awaiting this visit, brimming with enthusiasm and joy. They are prepared to warmly welcome the prime minister, expressing their gratitude for her victory.
Mayor of Tungipara Municipality Sheikh Tozammel Haque Tutul said: "Voters in her own constituencies Tungipara and Kotalipara voted spontaneously for the prime minister. She was elected as a Member of Parliament with a huge vote and was elected as the prime minister for the 5th time. So, the prime minister is grateful to the leaders, activists, and common people."
Leaders from Tungipara upazila Awami League and affiliated organizations echoed this sentiment, expressing happiness about the prime minister's arrival. They emphasized that her election for the fifth time is a testament to the overwhelming support from the people of Tungipara and Kotalipara.
General Secretary of Kotalipara Upazila Awami League Aynal Hossain Sheikh said: "The prime minister will exchange greetings with the leaders and activists of Kotalipara on Sunday. Leaders and activists will openly discuss matters with the prime minister, who will listen to their concerns. We have nothing to ask or receive from her, as our greatest achievement is her elected as prime minister for the fifth time through our votes. We pray for her long life."
The construction of the stage and pandal in front of Kotalipara Upazila Parishad has been completed in preparation for the prime minister's visit. The prime minister is expected to engage in two separate greeting exchange programs in Tungipara and Kotalipara constituencies, generating excitement and festive vibes among the activists.
GM Sahab Uddin Azam, general secretary of Gopalganj district Awami League, conveyed that the entire district is abuzz with the news of the prime minister's visit. A celebratory atmosphere prevails throughout the district, with leaders and workers eagerly anticipating the opportunity to greet the prime minister in two separate programs in Tungipara and Kotalipara constituencies.
All preparations have been made to ensure a festive and secure visit in coordination with law and order forces, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Kazi Mahbubul Alam.
