Sirajganj-3: 2 sentenced to 6 months for casting fake votes

A mobile court on Sunday sentenced two persons to six months in prison for casting fake votes in a center under Sirajganj-3 constituency.

The convicts are Iqbal Hossain Sarkar, 41, son of Khadir Ali of Basudebkal Dakkhinpara and Mobarak Hossain, 40, son of Nurul Islam Sarkar of the same area.

They were arrested and sentenced to imprisonment from Basudebkal Sriramerpara Islamia Dakhil Madrasa Center of Raiganj upazila.

Israt Jahan, executive magistrate of the mobile court, said that the two accused tried to cast fake votes by standing in the voters' queue in disguise.

When they were detained and interrogated due to suspicion, they admitted to casting fake votes.

According to Section 171-F of the Penal Code of 1860, they were sentenced to six months' imprisonment without labor, she added.
