Members of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami brought out a procession in Dhaka’s Uttara in support of the 48-hour hartal on Sunday.
Several activists and supporters chanted anti-government slogans as they marched the streets in Uttara in the early morning.
In a press release, Jamaat acting secretary general ATM Masum said their movement is underway to boycott the election.
There were no reports of police intervention or clashes during the procession.
Jamaat, BNP and like-minded parties are enforcing the hartal in protest against the national polls that began at 8am on Sunday.
In Chittagong, police dispersed a procession brought out by the BNP in Panchlaish area of the city.
