In preparation for the 12th national parliamentary election, ballot boxes, ballot papers, and election equipment have been airlifted to seven polling stations across two unions, including Thanchi upazila in Bandarban.

The election equipment was transported by helicopter to various remote centres since Thursday morning, said Thanchi upazila election officer Abdul Hamid.

According to the upazila election office, the distribution was based on the number of voters in remote unions, with ballot papers, transparent ballot boxes, and other necessary equipment sent accordingly.

All remaining election equipment is scheduled to be dispatched to all centres the day before the polling.

Simultaneously, four platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have been deployed as a striking force to maintain the law and order situation surrounding the election.

Following government directives, army personnel will also be present in the election field.

To ensure the security of the election, 42 policemen will be deployed in the upazila, said Thanchi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Jasim Uddin.

Thanchi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Mamun said that out of the 14 polling stations in Thanchi, election equipment is being airlifted to seven polling stations with the assistance of helicopters, and these supplies are expected to reach their destinations by Friday.

He emphasized that the elections in Thanchi upazila will be conducted in a free, neutral, fair, participatory, and orderly environment.
