96hr ban on public gatherings, processions in Gopalganj starts Friday morning

Ahead of the 12th national parliamentary election scheduled on Sunday, a 96-hour ban is set to start on meetings, gatherings, and processions in the three constituencies of Gopalganj from Friday morning.

Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Kazi Mahbubul Alam issued a public notice following Article 78 Clause (1) of the Representation of the People Order, 1972, on Tuesday. 

According to the notification, the ban on any form of public gatherings, meetings, processions, and rallies has been imposed for the 48 hours preceding the commencement of voting and the 48 hours following the conclusion of the electoral process. 

This effectively means that from 8am on Friday to 4pm on January 9, any form of assembly or organized gathering is strictly prohibited in the specified electoral areas.

No one is allowed to call, hold or attend any kind of public gathering in this period.
