Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said threats from other countries would prove to be futile, emphasizing that Bangladesh is not Afghanistan.
The minister made the remark while addressing reporters during his election campaign in Sylhet on Friday morning.
He added that Bangladesh, with a population of 170 million, ranks as the 33rd largest economy globally. The country is self-reliant and maintains positive relations with all nations, he said.
The minister highlighted that the Awami League is actively engaging in door-to-door campaigning to ensure a free and fair election, emphasizing its commitment to democracy.
In contrast, he criticized the BNP for attempting to create conflict in the country through attacks.
Expressing sadness over the BNP's non-cooperation movement, he said the party seems to lack confidence in winning votes through the electoral process.
Momen said the BNP is heading in the wrong direction, expressing hope that it would find guidance.
During the campaign, the minister distributed leaflets in suburban areas of the city and later in the industrial areas of Teroratan and Gotatikor, seeking votes from his constituents in Sylhet-1.
