The electoral camp of Awami League candidate Morshed Alam for Noakhali-2 was set on fire on Thursday.
The incident took place in the Chandpur village of the Kadra Union in the early hours of the day.
Nizam Uddin, president of the party’s ward No 8 unit in Kadra union, said: “Local people noticed the fire in the election office on Thursday morning and they informed Awami League activists and followers. Some important items of the office were burnt in the fire.”
However, the arsonist is still unidentified.
Senbug police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazim Uddin said the police visited the spot after receiving the information.
“We have received a verbal complaint. Legal action will be taken after investigation”, he added.
