Update : 27 Dec 2023, 12:01 AM

Member of Parliament (MP) from Jessore-3 constituency Kazi Nabil Ahmed on Tuesday said that there is only one way ahead of the people, which is to ensure a victory for Boat in the January 7 elections in order to resist such Pakistani ghosts as the BNP and Jamaat.

The ruling party candidate for the seat at the upcoming elections said this is why all must work shoulder to shoulder.

Kazi Nabil Ahmed was speaking as the chief guest at a street rally on the Ambattala Secondary School ground organized by Churamankati Union Awami League (AL) Tuesday afternoon.

Altaf Hossain, freedom fighter and President of Churamankati Union Awami League, presided over the rally.

Kazi Nabil Ahmed said: “It is our sacred duty to make the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, prime minister of the country for the fifth time.”

Referring to divisions among party workers, he said: “Now we have to forget all petty issues. We should forget all our differences. For the next 11 days we all have to go to every union, every ward. For that, all the leaders should make separate teams of men and women and go from door to door to motivate the voters. Voters must be convinced that the only way to develop the country, the way to progress, and the way to prosperity is Boat.”

He urged everyone to vote in a festive atmosphere to make the Boat a winner once again.

Kazi Nabil Ahmed claimed to be lucky to be a candidate for the AL for the third time and said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent me to you in Jessore as a candidate for Boat. This is my good fortune.”

Referring to his connection with the union, he said: “My late father Kazi Shahid Ahmed had established Munshi Meherullah Academy in this union. My father has contributed to development in many villages here. Many people had good relations with my father. I came here with him 25 years ago and got your love.”

The local MP sought prayers and forgiveness from the local people for the salvation of his late father's soul.

He urged everyone to vote for Boat for development activities to be continued in the country.

District AL President Shahidul Islam Milon in his speech said: “I voted for Boat in 1970 at the call of Bangabandhu and have been voting for AL ever since.”

He said: “There is a saying in our village that boys who don't listen to their parents bring shame to their families. Our parent is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, she is our party leader. She ordered Kazi Nabil to contest the polls with the Boat symbol. I am voting for Kazi Nabil Ahmed as district president of the party as per her [PM] instructions. I cannot vote for any individual candidate in defiance of the party chief's instructions.”

Urging people to vote for Boat, he said: "By voting for Bangabandhu's Boat, we got the freedom of my country, by voting for Sheikh Hasina, we got digital Bangladesh, now we want to build a smart Bangladesh by voting for Boat."

District AL Vice President Mehdi Hasan Mintu, Organizing Secretary SM Afzal Hossain, District Jubo League President Mostafa Farid Ahmed Chowdhury, District AL Industry and Commerce Secretary Sheikh Atiqur Rahman Babu, Churamankati UP Chairman Md Daud Hossain Dafadar, Mahila League President Laiju Zaman, Juba Mahila League President Manjunnahar Nazneen Sonali, Jahangir Tarafder, Ashok Bose, Tanjeev Naushad Pallab, Tanveen Roxy, Ghiyasuddin Member, former leader of former Chhatra League leader Shanta Dey, among others, were present at the rally.

At the end of the rally, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Shahidul Islam Milon and other leaders exchanged greetings with the people of the area and requested them to vote for Boat in the January 7 election. They also distributed leaflets among the locals.
