Awami League candidate for Barisal-4 constituency Shammi Ahmed has filed a petition with the chamber judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court seeking the withdrawal of the order that cancelled her candidacy.
Her lawyer Shah Monjurul Haque said they filed the petition on Tuesday.
On December 19, the chamber judge of the Appellate Division upheld a High Court order that rejected a writ petition filed by Shammi Ahmed challenging the cancellation of her candidature.
The Appellate Division led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order on Tuesday. As a result of the order, Shammi Ahmed was declared out of the election race.
On December 15, the Election Commission also turned down her appeal against the cancellation of her candidacy by the returning officer.
The national polls is scheduled to be held on January 7.
