The electoral camp of Awami League candidate Barrister Nizam Uddin Jalil John in Naogaon-5 was vandalized and set on fire on Sunday.
The incident took place in the city's Kalitala area around 11pm.
The followers of the candidate claimed the incident was carried out by activists of independent candidate Dewan Sekar Ahmed Shishan in order to intimidate residents of the Hindu Colony next to the electoral camp.
Naogaon Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidur Rahman said that the electoral camp of Nizam Uddin Jalil was located in the Kalitala area, near the Chamber of Commerce. “Miscreants set fire to the camp late at night. That camp's banners and posters were torched. Several chairs and tables were vandalized.”
Legal action will be taken if cases are filed, he added.
