Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and his cousin Ataur Rahman Ata have been served show-cause notices by the election investigation committee of the area for exchanging views with teachers who came to a government training, violating the electoral code of conduct.
The head of the committee for Kushtia-3, Joint District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Mazharul Islam, sent the notices on Sunday afternoon.
They were asked to appear in person on Tuesday.
According to the notices, there are allegations that teachers were forced to hold election meetings before starting training.
Meanwhile, Mahbubul Alam Hanif told reporters: "I do not know about any notice yet. There is nothing to worry about."
On Sunday morning, leaders of the teachers' association called 1,280 teachers who came to receive training on the new curriculum at Kalkakoli Secondary School ground. Kushtia-3 Awami League candidate MP Mahbubul Alam Hanif addressed the meeting as the chief guest, and district Awami League leaders also addressed it.
District Awami League General Secretary Asgar Ali sought votes Boat, the Awami League electoral symbol, at the meeting.
Parvez Anwar Tonu, son of independent candidate Anwar Ali, submitted a written complaint to the Election Commission and the committee.
