There will be no bar on the use of motorbikes by journalists with valid identity cards to gather information on election day, January 7.
The Election Commission on Sunday wrote to the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry in this regard.
However, the general public will not be allowed to use motorcycles from midnight on January 5 to midnight on January 8.
Bar on taxis, pickups, microbuses and trucks will remain effective from midnight of January 6 to midnight of January 7.
Emergency services, officers on election duty, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration and long-route vehicles will remain out of the purview of the ban, the letter said.
