People are enthusiastic about the 12th national election, Mohammad A Arafat, the Awami League lawmaker representing Dhaka-17, has said.
“I welcome any rival candidates and take the matter positively. Elections are very important in a democracy,” Arafat, who is running for reelection from the constituency, said during his election campaign in the Bhashantek area on Sunday.
The MP said he would try to encourage Awami League supporters to go to polling centres on election day, and that would be enough to secure the party’s victory in the polls.
“Therefore, there is no need to worry about any opponents.”
