The home ministry has banned the movement of motorcycles for three days next month for the upcoming general election.
The ban will be in effect from midnight on January 5 till midnight on January 8, reads a circular issued by the Public Security Division of the ministry on Thursday.
There will also be a ban on the movement of cabs, microbuses, pickups, trucks, launches and engine-powered boats (except those plying specific routes) in election areas from midnight on January 6 to midnight on January 7.
Candidates, law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration officials, authorized observers and polling agents must use the Election Commission’s stickers on their vehicles.
The ban will not apply to national highways.
