Election Commissioner Md Alamgir on Thursday said that there is no option for the BNP to join the national elections now.
However, if BNP wants to participate in the elections, then the Election Commission is open look into possibilities, he added.
The election commissioner made these remarks in the Tangail District Commissioner's conference room on Thursday.
Md Alamgir said: “No decision has been taken to deploy the army in the election yet. But if it is decided at a later date and if the army is deployed, it will work under the magistrate.”
He also said that there is no foreign pressure in the 12th national parliament election. “We are the ones who are applying pressure in different places. Already, 82 election experts and 46 journalists from different countries including the US, the UK, Canada and Australia have applied to become election observers.”
