The nomination paper of the Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM) candidate for Pabna-2 constituency popular folk singer Doly Shaontoni has been canceled.
Pabna Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer Md Asaduzzaman rejected her nomination paper on Sunday at around 11:30am.
The singer’s nomination was cancelled due to defaulted loans related to credit cards, Asaduzzaman said.
In this regard, Doly Shaontoni said: "The issue of the card was not in my knowledge. I will resolve the matter quickly and file an appeal.”
On November 28, popular folk Singer Doly Shaontoni bought a nomination form from the Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM) to participate in the 12th national polls, scheduled for January 7.
Doly Shaontoni has garnered recognition for her contributions to contemporary Bangla songs and traditional folk music.
The 12th parliamentary election will be held on January 7 (Sunday) as per the polls schedule announced by Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal on November 15.
