The election inquiry committee has issued a show-cause notice to Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadwi, the Awami League's nominated candidate for Chittagong-15 constituency member of Parliament, following allegations of violating the code of conduct.

The order was given in a letter signed by Chittagong-15 constituency election inquiry committee's chief and Senior Associate Judge Shahnewaz Moni on Friday.

The notice cites a complaint filed by independent candidate Abdul Motaleb, accusing Nadwi's workers, including Aminul Islam, of beating supporters at Deodighi Bazar on Thursday.

Additionally, it alleges indecent gestures, threats, and the burning of Abdul Motaleb's picture during an incident at Keranihat in Satkania.

Nadwi is further accused of making promises and donations at a rally in Satkania, violating the election code of conduct.

Earlier, on Thursday afternoon, Jubo League and Chhatra League organized a sweep march, urging the removal of Satkania upazila Awami League President MA Motaleb from the party due to his candidacy as an independent in the Chittagong-15 (Satkania-Lohagara) constituency. During the march, his picture was also burned.

MA Motaleb claimed to journalists that the participants in the sweep march and the burning of pictures were organized by the followers of MP Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadwi.
