An independent lawmaker from the Faridpur-4 constituency, Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, alias Nixon Chowdhury, has accused ruling Awami League candidate Kazi Zafarullah of intimidating the voters.
He said this after submitting his nomination paper to Faridpur Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md Kamrul Ahsan Talukder at the local Election Commission (EC) office on Wednesday..
Emerging from the EC office, Nixon told reporters that his supporters were intimidated by Kazi Zafarullah’s men.
Awami League Presidium Member Kazi Zafarullah had lost to Nixon Chowdhury both in 2014 and 2018.
Nixon, a relative of Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, contested the elections as an independent candidate. Nixon is also a member of the Jubo League’s Central Advisory Committee.
