34 central leaders of Awami League got party nominations this time out of the 81-member Central Working Committee of Awami League.
The ruling party has announced its party nominations for 298 seats ahead of the 12th National Parliament elections on Sunday.
Party president Sheikh Hasina is contesting in the election as Awami League candidate from Gopalganj-3 constituency. Sheikh Hasina has been elected MP from this seat since 1996.
Obaidul Quader, general secretary of the party, will contest again as a candidate for Noakhali-5 constituency. He is a three-time member of parliament from the constituency and will fight for the fourth time.
Out of 17 presidium Member of Awami League 11 got party nomination this time including Deputy Leader of National Parliament Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Kazi Zafarullah, Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Shajahan Khan, Qamrul Islam, Muhammad Faruk Khan, Dr Abdur Razzaque, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, and Simin Hossain Rimi.
All of the four joint general secretaries of Awami League got party nominations this time. Dr Hasan Mahmud will contest in Chittagong-7, Mahbubul Alam Hanif in Kushtia-3, AFM Bahauddin Nasim in Dhaka-8 and Dr Dipu Moni in Chandpur-3.
Six out of the eight organizing secretaries have got party nominations including Mirza Azam, SM Kamal Hossain, Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Sopon, Ahmed Hossain, Afzal Hossain and Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel.
Publicity Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, Agriculture Secretary Faridunnahar Laily, International Affairs Secretary Shammi Ahmed, Science and Technology Secretary Abdus Sabur, Information Secretary Selim Mahmud, Liberation war affairs Mrinal Kanti Dash got party nomination from their own constituency.
The current number of members of the Central Committee of Awami League is 27. Of them, five got nominations.
They are - Abul Hasanat Abdullah in Barisal-1, Iqbal Hossain Apu in Shariatpur-1, Mohammad Ali Arafat in Dhaka-17, Sanzida Khanam in Dhaka-4 and Sayeed Khokon in Dhaka-6 constituency.
