Dhallywood actor Apu Biswas has expressed her intention to be a candidate for the Awami League in the 12th National Parliamentary Election.
She had previously purchased Awami League's nomination form for the 11th parliamentary election but was not nominated.
She expressed her interest in an interview on Friday.
Apu Biswas said: "I plan to participate in the upcoming election. If given the opportunity, I intend to run the election under the boat symbol (electoral symbol of Awami League)."
The Dhallywood actor further said: "I plan to participate in the elections this time. I believe it's important for a woman to represent women, similar to our prime minister. She has consistently advocated for women's leadership."
"Apu Biswas holds a unique position for women, particularly as a public figure, a mother, and a woman. So, if given the chance to be a candidate, I will certainly take it," she added.
Previously, the names of several celebrities, including actors Ferdous Ahmed, Mahiya Mahi, Siddiqur Rahman, and cricketer Shakib Al Hasan, have been discussed on social media as potential candidates from the Awami League in the 12th National Parliamentary Election.
