BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday said that without the right to vote, the people of Bangladesh will continue to be treated as second-class citizens.
“We are on the field with the aim of restoring the people's voting rights. There is no alternative to this. Otherwise, we will have to leave the country, or live as second-class citizens. But the history of the people of this country has never been like that," he said in a virtual press conference on Tuesday afternoon.
Rizvi further said: "Today's rulers never believe in the freedom of the media, democracy, and the people's opinion. They first killed democracy with sharp weapons. Once again, Bakshal has been established in a new way in the country. Even today, they create plans of sabotage in the country."
"To restore our country's rights, eliminate lawlessness and corruption, and free the people from oppression, we're announcing a 48-hour continuous blockade on November 8 to 9. I urge everyone, including party members, to peacefully protest against this dictatorship. Our country's tradition is one of continuous struggle," the BNP leader added.
Rizvi complained: "They (Awami League) are running a monopoly campaign against BNP and democracy-loving people by doing sabotage and anti-people activities."
