Awami League candidate Golam Faruk Pinku secured a victory for his party in Sunday’s by-election to Lakshmipur-3.
He blew his nearest rival, Jatiya Party candidate Muhammad Rakib Hossain, out of the water by bagging 120,599 votes against the latter’s 3,846.
Faruk is president of the Awami League’s Lakshmipur unit.
The Parliament Secretariat on October 4 declared the seat vacant after the passing of lawmaker AKM Shajahan Kamal on September 30.
