Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen, the Awami League lawmaker representing Sylhet-1, has expressed his confidence in the triumph of the Awami League in the Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) election.
The foreign minister was speaking to journalists after casting his vote, accompanied by his wife, at the Durgakumar Government Primary School polling centre in Sylhet at 10am on Wednesday.
He said he firmly believes that the people of Sylhet will lend their support towards “progress and development.”
The minister, while casting his first vote using an electronic voting machine (EVM), expressed his satisfaction with the process, saying it is a simple and time-efficient method, which allows voters to cast their ballots quickly.
Encouraging the people of Sylhet to use EVMs, he said: "I am fully hopeful that voters from all walks of life in Sylhet will cast their ballots in favour of development, propelling Sylhet towards greater heights."
The minister said: "There is a festive mood among people. There is no chaos anywhere. The election is being held peacefully and fairly. I am very optimistic about the Awami League's victory."
