Islami Andolan Bangladesh-backed mayoral candidate Abdul Awal (hand fan) has claimed when voters press the hand fan symbol, the electronic voting machines at a polling centre in Khulna are displaying the boat symbol instead.
“This is a big problem,” He said after casting his vote at Darul Qur'an Hafizia Madrasa, at 10am on Monday.
The incident has been reported in Satellite Town High School centre in ward no 12.
The presiding officer of that centre, Mohammad Anarul Kabir, however, dismissed the allegations made by Abdul Awal.
He stated: “Islami Andolan Bangladesh-backed mayoral candidate alleged that a voter cast his vote for the hand fan and the EVM displayed the boat symbol instead. We found no truth in this allegation.
“It is likely that these accusations have been made with the intention of causing unrest,” he added.
