Ban imposed on plying of truck, pickups for Savar municipal polls from Jan 15

The second phase of the Savar municipality election will be held on January 16

The movement of trucks and pickups in the respective electoral areas at Savar has been restricted from 12am on January 15 to 12am on January 16 as the second phase of the Savar municipality election will be held on January 16.

Besides, a ban has been imposed on the plying of motorcycles from 12 midnight on January 14 to 6am on January 17, an official handout of the Press Information Department (PID) said on Tuesday.

It also said the ban is relaxed in case of contesting candidates, their election agents, domestic and foreign observers (carrying necessary identification) subject to the permission of the Returning Officer (RO).

The ban will not be applicable for the movement of vehicles for local and foreign journalists (with identity cards) engaged in gathering election related news, election officials, members of law enforcement, legal observers and some urgent work such as ambulance, fire service, electricity, gas, post and telecommunication.
