An Awami League delegation led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Political Adviser HT Imam paid a visit to Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda and other officials including Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed, to thank the Commission for holding the 11th parliamentary election in a free and fair manner.
HT Imam, while briefing reporters after the meeting at the secretariat on Sunday, said: “Such a big election has never been held in Bangladesh. A beautiful coordination of a large number of people has never been seen before. This is a matter of pride.”
The government did all the work required to support the commission, he said.
"We discussed the work of the high and low levellaw enforcement agencies during the election, about maintaining this level of coordination.
“There are many upcoming elections in the future that need to be held fairly,”he added.
Through this election, the confidence in the Election Commission increased a lot, Imam said.
"We feel proud that this year, different local and foreign observers, countries, and political parties congratulated us on the win."
For the first time in history, no member of the police force or other armed forces has been killed, he further added.
