Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has said that 95% election campaign materials used before the 11th general polls have already been removed from the areas under DSCC.
The temporary campaign offices and rest of the materials, including posters, banners and festoons, would also be removed as soon as possible, he said on Saturday.
His remarks came at the inauguration function in Dhaka's Segunbagicha of the initiative to remove election camps from the city’s pavements.
“We want to remove all the campaign offices quickly so people can walk freely on the pavements. We will keep our city clean,” Khokon said.
“Previously, I had asked the elected MPs to remove their campaign materials from the streets. They are trying to do that.
“But if you see any poster, banner and festoon anywhere, please inform our officials or even me directly. We will take immediate steps,” he said addressing the citizens.
