Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain has urged the elected BNP lawmakers to accept the people's verdict and take oath.
He made this remark while addressing the media at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
He said: "It will not be wise to reject the verdict made by the general people of Bangladesh. Though they [BNP] are less in number, they can talk in favour of people they represent.
“If BNP decides to refrain themselves from going to the parliament, they will make a huge mistake."
Replying to a query, the minister said: "Around 30 to 35 lawmakers will be representing Jatiya Party and BNP as the opposition, which will surely have a valuable contribution in the parliament."
He also mentioned that the people have voted in favour of development, after realizing the propaganda and false assurances given by BNP, reports UNB.
Responding to another question about his chances of becoming a minister again, he said: "I do not know. The prime minister will decide and I will abide by it."
Mentioning that his ministry has been very successful in the last five years, Mosharraf said: "We have made many developments in the housing sector.
“The government housing programs have increased from being 8% to 30%."
"Besides, construction of 543 apartments for Mirpur slum dwellers is going on in full swing," he added.
