The ruling Awami League has pledged to bring Bangladesh under full 5G bandwidth coverage between 2021 and 2023.

The party also pledged to expand cutting-edge technology such as: artificial intelligence, robotics, big data, block chain, and IOT.

These pledges were announced by Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as she was delivering her speech to unveil Awami League’s 21-Point Special Pledge Manifesto.

The ruling party vowed to boost the export of ICT (information and communication technology) software, services, and digital equipment to $7 billion; and all transactions in the financial sector will be digitized.

Services such as E-passport and E-visa will be introduced; plus initiatives will be taken to launch Bangabandhu Satellite 2 and connect Bangladesh through Submarine Cable 3. Pledges were also made to bring down the cost of internet and mobile phones.

The event was held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, in Dhaka, on Tuesday. The election will be held on December 30.
