The nomination papers of BNP candidate Afroza Abbas – wife of former Dhaka city mayor Mirza Abbas – for Dhaka 9 constituency have been rejected—because of her status as a loan defaulter.
In a hearing at the commissioner's office around 12:30pm, she had been allotted two hours time to acquire substantial documents from the Bangladesh Bank disproving said allegation.
However, as she was unable to provide the authorities with substantial evidence consequently the returning officer has rejected her nomination at the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner's office in Segunbagicha.
