CEC: We want a bloodless election

He stated this while briefing Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Khulna executive magistrates at the commission

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said the Election Commission wants to conduct an election without bloodshed.

He made the remarks while briefing Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Khulna executive magistrates at the commission’s Agargaon office, in Dhaka, on Monday, the last day of a three-day briefing to .

“We want a fair election. We do not want any: clashes, bloodshed, casualties, or death in connection with the election,” said Nurul Huda.

He asked the executive magistrates to be careful so that no untoward situation occurs while implementing the electoral code.
 
 The CEC also instructed them to efficiently deal with any situation. 

"Sometimes you have to face an awkward situation that might misguide you. You have to handle the situation with skill.”

He asked them to be patient and coordinate with presiding officers to tackle any unexpected situation. 

Nurul Huda instructed the magistrates to supervise law enforcement agencies.

Four election commissioners were also present at the briefing.

When is the election?

The Election Commission rescheduled the election for December 30 instead of December 23.

The deadline for submitting nomination papers is set for November 28 and withdrawal of nominations on December 8. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on December 2.
